* Reagan's assertion that Ernesto Miranda went back to jail for "committing the same kind of crime" is not entirely accurate. Miranda was retried and convicted of the initial crime (kidnapping, rape, and armed robbery charges). After his release (5 years into a 20-30 year sentence), he violated his parole (possession of a gun) and was sent to prison for another year.
