The Superintendent's Dilemma
TranscriptI don't very often get calls for encores, but when I read the poem of an Idaho school official a while back, I got a flutter request to repeat it so, encore. Today I'm going to bring you The Superintendent's Dilemma. I'll be right back. Sometimes I sit and ponder long And then I realize the job There's Federal projects, grants and gifts. I try to walk the tightrope Some will tell you this will work. Operations in the schools There's Civil Rights and Human Rights, Boys and girls dress alike. In clothes and jobs and hair and such. The high court Judges see no "diff" Give me the good old-fashioned days The liberals say, "Don't frustrate the child But he'll waste time and life and limb His right to freedom, speech and work The federal "help" I get from Unc(le)— If you should try the federal way I'm somewhat like the school Supt. They'd told him how to cook the lunch. He finally threw his hands up And so he got a HUD house The moral of this story is: When the public folks have had enough Well that's our encore. The reading once again of the poem The Superintendent's Dilemma, that was written by an Idaho school official and he really knew what he was talking about. Maybe the rest of us should pay attention because we could each have a poem too. This is Ronald Reagan. Thanks for listening. |
