The Founding Fathers are those men who worked to bring about the creation of the United States of America. Their original intent was, however, only to seek what they viewed as fair treatment as subjects of the British crown.
They are often viewed in two main groups: those who signed the
Declaration of Independence and those who signed the
Constitution.

Regan refers to the Founders both as a group and on an individual basis.
Thomas Jefferson,
Alexander Hamilton,
Benjamin Franklin, for example.
In his first CPAC speech, Reagan makes reference to the signers of the Declaration who failed to survive the Revolution.
